Site Scan

IncludePress fetches each public URL the way a logged-out visitor would. The request sends no login cookie. On those fetches the admin bar stays hidden, so the HTML matches the page a visitor receives. The scan does not change the page.

What gets crawled

  • Published posts, pages, and other public post types
  • The home page and the blog index
  • Category, tag, and other public archives that have posts
  • Author archives
  • A search results URL
  • A missing URL, so the 404 template is included
  • WooCommerce shop, cart, checkout, and account pages, when WooCommerce is active

You can also scan one URL. The host has to be this site. A full scan runs in small batches and can be cancelled. If one URL times out or returns an error, that URL is recorded and the scan continues.

The Scans screen

These screenshots are from a local WordPress admin. The marketing site does not run the scanner.

IncludePress Scans screen while a scan is running. The status reads Scanning, and a purple progress bar shows how far the queue has moved.

Progress is announced in a live region. The purple bar carries no text.

IncludePress Scans screen after a scan finishes. The history table shows a completed full scan of 42 URLs. A missing URL is listed under URL errors with HTTP 404.

A missing URL is expected. The 404 template is part of the crawl, and that error does not stop the scan.

Limitation. Pages that require login aren’t scanned in this version.
